Roll and Coasters: Act Up

R&Cs: Act Up

When the rap duo City Girls released their album (Girl Code) late last year, they validated the hype that surrounded them after their star turn on a certain ubiquitous Drake single. “Act Up” is only the second Girl Code single, which is understandable given how popular the first was; and also how they’ve been handicapped with JT being behind bars. Still, Yung Miami is out here flying the group’s flag high and making sure we play them everywhere.

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
