Roll and Coasters: Barbie Dreams

R&Cs: Barbie Dreams

Shout out to Nicki Minaj for this “Barbie Dreams”, another standout cut off her latest album. A little history note if I may, this is Nicki’s take on a concept we last heard a couple decades ago (!) with Lil’ Kim’s “Dreams“, which was written by the late Biggie who, as far as we know, was the originator of the concept with his own white label “Just Playing (Dreams)“. Yes, the nineties feel like yesterday to some of us 😅. And it’s not anything to be feel some type of way when you realize that today’s stalwarts (G-Eazy, Future, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj and Young Thug on this playlist) have been rolling their bones in this music game for close to (or over) ten years!

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
