Roll and Coasters: Wherever You Are

R&Cs: Wherever You Are

I don’t get to lead off with alt rock that often, much less with Dublin’s Kodaline. (Remember “Follow Your Fire” and “Head Held High“?) When I got wind of the group’s release of a new single — it turned out to be the wistful “Wherever You Are” — I knew that I had to jump at the occasion. So, I’m pretty satisfied to start with Kodaline on this playlist that includes several other nuggets, the most notable of which is James Blunt’s heartfelt ode to his father. I hope you will enjoy this evocative trip; keep that hankerchief nearby just in case.

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
