Roll and Coasters: Oulala (Chilla)

R&Cs: Oulala (Chilla)

We could have started off with any of the four first tracks in this playlist, but let shine more bright lights at French rapper Chilla, because she deserves it! Her single, “Oulala”, is the latest in a line heat rocks she’s been blessing us with all year (“Am Stram Gram“, “Dans le Movie #1“, “Rema“, etc.). Word is there’s more to come, and we can’t wait! Quick notes on the other three… It’s good to see 21 Savage back with a new video. It’s also heartwarming to have Bugzy Malone kinda take it back to his up-and-coming days with “M.E.N 2”. Finally, there are no words I can find for Ghetts’ incredibly emotional “Jess Song”. Just listen and watch!

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
