R&Cs: AmaBlesser

At the tail end of 2017, I recall a few tweets from super producer DJ Maphorisa raving about a young talent he found on YouTube, Mlindo The Vocalist. Thereafter, the two quickly got together and in the studio; it quickly bore fruit too. “AmaBlesser” is a powerful ballad that immediately evokes heartbreak through Mlindo’s emotive delivery. (It’s all the more sensational that the heart wrenching story actually happened in real life). “AmaBlesser” has had a steady climb in the charts and hearts of South Africans. The just-released video has captured its essence perfectly. I didn’t see any better song to start off this ‘Roll & Coasters‘, which includes other stellar love songs from the likes of Lily Allen, Djodje and Sugarland.

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives.
