Roll & Coasters
I don’t know about you, but over here we get bombarded with a lot of music on a regular basis. In our quest to find the best way to share our discoveries, we came up with ‘Roll & Coasters’: one of our earliest ideas, R&Cs were video playlists relying on the latest music videos posted on YouTube.
With the rising popularity of other digital streaming platforms, we started replicating our YouTube playlists to the other major streaming outlets. And that’s how all our playlists are presented nowadays.
What hasn’t changed over time is how we come up with the R&Cs playlists: pool together music videos released within a week, and make a cohesive arrangement of 20-some songs. You tell us what you think.

More R&Cs Playlists
R&Cs: Status Symbol 3
Just a few weeks after awing us with his video for “Double Up“, Nipsey Hussle comes back with one for “Status Symbol 3”, where his chemistry with Buddy is on full display. The playlist itself packs a punch and it’s hard for me to pick favorites. Can you?
R&Cs: Unfair Games
There was no particular reason to have the dancehall smash, “Unfair Games” as the lead here, but let me venture a few. It made sense to me in the flow of this rather upbeat selection. I think the ‘Life’s Path Riddim‘ is one of the more exceptional ones to come out this year. And, Yanique...Continue reading
R&Cs: Blow My Mind
We’ll start on a rather bouncy note. On the heels of the shock waves caused by a Beyoncé “love letter“, one of the notable Afrobeats absentees from Lion King: The Gift released his own single (“Blow My Mind”) featuring an other American pop heavyweight, Chris Brown. It’s the strongest indication yet (“Démo” aside) that all...Continue reading
R&Cs: Dangote
Burna Boy had a great year and, by all indications, he’s still on tear. After his firecracker collaboration with the Zanku champion Zlatan (on “Killin Dem“), Burna Boy reloaded with “Dangote”, an ode to the hustling and grinding disposition of young Nigerians to overcome their hardships and lack of job prospects. He’s joined on this...Continue reading
R&Cs: Nice for What
I think that Drake deserves a lot of props for his woman-lauding, Lauryn-Hill-sampling, Southern-bounce-reviving hit single, “Nice for What”. What’s more, I can’t see any better way to drive the point home than the dope star-studded video directed by the talented future powerhouse Karena Evans. (Can you?) And all the women in the video commend...Continue reading
