R&Cs: Ça va

When Naza, one of the main stars in the current wave of French African-influenced pop, R&B and rap delights, dropped his second album in a as many years, I feared he might be saturating the market. But the hits just keep on coming! The Alonzo-assisted “Ça va” (it’s OK) follows a string of successful singles for the (unofficial) purveyor of victory music for the French sport teams. He gets a justified nod to lead this playlist that includes my current favorite rapper from Cote d’Ivoire, my current favorite British pop band and (finally!) some Eritrean representation (asides Nipsey Hussle).

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives.
