Roll and Coasters: Abangani

I like Sjava. A lot! And his new single, “Abangani” (it means ‘friends’ in Zulu) is the type of music I live for. We always look for and cherish music that soothes, lifts and inspires. I felt that in a song with lyrics in a language I don’t speak but could somehow understand. (Truth be told, Zulu is a Bantu language, thus very close to my mother’s tongue, Kirundi.) “Abangani” is Sjava’s ode to friendship and features his African Trap Movement buddies Emtee and Saudí, with whom he successfully embarked on a journey to build a media outfit. And that’s the dream most of us can relate to.
