R&Cs: Bout It

Personally, this year I’ve been revelling in the sheer amount of good music that’s been released thus far. My favorite artist out of Dreamville added to my delight with his sophomore album, Effected, which includes the standout “Bout It” that just got the video treatment. This year has also brought to my attention a promising artist from the 6 whose EP (Twos) has been featured prominently by the homie Yoshi. My excitement is not just with the projects that have come out, but also what has yet to come. In that regard, this playlist has a lot of teasers.

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
