R&Cs: Django Jane

When news that one of your favorite and accomplished singers is coming through with a new album (and then some), you already know your happy weekend is assured. In the past five years since her last album, Electric Lady, Janelle Monáe has also become a budding movie star and a discerning patron for the younger music talents. As we await Dirty Computer (and its companion film), we have a double treat: the fiery “Django Jane” and surefire “Make Me Feel.”

Hewa Yasin

I wrote as kid. (I'd die if you'd ever get your hands on those poems.) And I wrote as a teen. (We thought our raps would spearhead revolution.) I write these days to share my joys and perspectives. I am as subjective as they come. I found a bunch of blessed souls that are just as expressive. And Africa is all the better for it. (I think I never really changed.)
