Faheem Rashad Najm has been a game changer for R&B. Derided at first, T-Pain’s genius method of “misusing” a pitch correction tool (Auto-Tune) has become a go-to technique for so many of the current chart toppers in hip-hop and R&B. Speaking of charts, since his debut album (Rappa Ternt Sanga<\/u> in 2005), he was a mainstay on hit lists for a run that lasted over a decade! Just getting him on your record was almost a guarantee for massive airplay. And while most begrudgingly (but eventually) acknowledged his singing skills<\/a>, very little is said about his rapping flair nor his producer chops. And let me not even start about his songwriting aptitude.<\/p>\n

In my view, not unlike his contemporary DJ Khaled<\/a>, T-Pain was much maligned and misunderstood at his popular peak. As for me, I appreciate Tallahassee Pain for all the music that he has put out, the music that he has featured on and the music that he has influenced. So, I hope that this playlist does him justice. And I hope that, as you’re enjoying it, you will finally entertain (and concede) that he deserves to be regarded as a complete artist rather than a pop novelty. Here’s Tallahassee Reign!<\/p>\n
